Robyn Ottolini Celebrates Her Debut Album With Sophia Scott, Noah Hicks & More
Six years after Canadian country star Robyn Ottolini took the country world by storm with her breakout hit, F-150, she’s releasing the album fans have waited years for.
A Soft Place To Land comes after a string of EPs and label changes, most recently Growing Up To Do and Ottolini’s move to independence. In July, Ottolini shared the album artwork, saying the project was for people who aspire to embrace life head on, open their doors to friends in need, and have a deep trust in themselves to handle whatever may come.
That message of embracing the moment carried naturally into Ottolini’s album release celebration at Whiskey Jam on August 20. Taking the stage at Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row in downtown Nashville, Ottolini was joined on the lineup by Sophia Scott, Noah Hicks, Tyra Madison, Bennett Bost, Cam Bogle, and Mikki Zip.
With a packed room behind her, Ottolini kept the focus firmly on the new album, making a slight departure from F-150 and allowing A Soft Place To Land to have its own moment. The set featured much of the new album, giving fans their first chance to hear the project come to life.
Ottolini commanded the stage with a carefree ease, making use of every inch of space despite the support beam that can sometimes make things difficult for artists at the venue. At one point, she pulled out her guitar, adding another layer to a set that felt both effortless and personal. Rather than relying on the familiarity of her breakout hit, Ottolini let the new songs speak for themselves.
That approach made the set feel less like a look back at where Ottolini has been and more like a celebration of where she is now. She brought her set to a close with the album’s final track, Life’s A Bitch (and Then You Die), leaving fans clamoring for more.
After years of waiting, A Soft Place To Land is officially here. The album is available everywhere today, August 21.
